Looking for an Accessibility Project Manager to join the Digital Accessibility team for all audience-facing products.
This is a non-technical role so while the accessibility project manager will not need to code, the successful candidate will need to have experience of working along side accessibility engineers and developers.
The Role
- Able to take a continuous approach to planning, managing uncertainty, metrics, and roadmaps. Able to communicate the plan, planning assumptions and progress to a range of stakeholders
- Create and manage a team inbox to oversee influx of reactive requests for support, helping the team triage the most urgent of these, whilst protecting time spent on strategic work.
- There is no project administration team so must be happy to complete project admin as required
- Lead agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand ups, retrospectives, etc) in JIRA.
- Provide end-to-end delivery support, maintaining momentum to help the team deliver projects to time, budget, and quality required.
- Support on delivering aspects of high priority projects, as well as overseeing these projects.
- Take responsibility for relationships with contracted suppliers and contribute to administration such as writing statements of work and agency briefs, contract reviews, and deliverable reviews.
- Support effective budget management and reporting, as well as taking responsibility for financial delivery, including raising invoices and purchase orders.
- Oversee risk management, including helping to solve issues and unblock problems. Help manage various dependencies across teams, products and the BBC as a whole.
Required Experience
Mandatory
- Understanding of Product ways of working, including the different phases of product delivery (experience of Product project management – although we’re not looking for a product manager)
- Proven experience managing multiple projects/project streams simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g.: Agile, Scrum) and hands-one experience with agile project management tools such as JIRA.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and tools like Miro.
- Must have experience of working in a large, complex organisation.
Desirable
- All our projects are about digital accessibility, so experience or at least a strong passion or interest in this field would be helpful.
- Ability to understand and address technical challenges directly (although coding experience is not required).
