​MPI currently have a requirement for a Permanent Mechanical Fitter, for our client in Bedford.

Benefits

The rate of pay is £16.01 PAYE or £20.68 Umbrella per hour

This is a temporary contract that could become permanent for the right candidate.

The Basic week is 39 hours with the benefit of flexible hours:-

Mon-Thurs starting between 7 & 8 (8 hours shift), half hour lunch

Fri 7:00-2.30 or 8:00-3.30 (7 hours shift), half hour lunch

23 Days holiday + Bank Holidays , then 1 day more per 5 years’ service

Death in service 2 ½ basic salary

Job purpose

Reporting to Lead Fitter

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, flexible with an ability to read and interpret drawings

The role requires the candidate to be able to build large special purpose machines to drawings, in a timely and professional manner. Machine tool background an advantage.

Progression Path: Fitter > Lead Fitter > Production Supervisor > Production Manager

Key responsibilities

Assemble and fit mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components as per Bills of Material, Drawings and Specifications of Company Products

Prioritise build sequence

To operate safely, the use of various hand tools and power tools as required and directed

Control through best practices, the quality of machines on build

Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment in accordance with 5S principles.

Ensure all work is of high standard

Ensure that all assembly documentation is filled out as required, to include timesheets, build inspection documentation

Personal attributes

•Apprenticeship trained or appropriate equivalent experience.

•Flexibility, motivation and commitment.

•Minimum five years previous experience allied to a proven ability to correctly interpret manufacturing information and carry out related self-inspection tasks.

•Capable of working with minimal supervision.
