MPI have a requirement for a permanent Vehicle and Airfield Equipment Technician to be based at RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, Oxfordshire. OX18 3LX
Rate of pay is dependent upon experience, plus benefits and will be discussed at the time of application.
Hours - Full time, Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week, 07:45 hrs -16:45 hrs Mon -Thu, 07:45 hrs – 12.45 hrs Fri (Standby out of hours commitment as required - this commitment attracts additional pay.)
At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, our Client has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. They proudly support the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services on site, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet, you will contribute enormously to the vital work carried out here. You’ll also be part of the wider team, with 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.
Vehicle & Mechanical Technicians work within the Client's Ground Equipment Maintenance Team working with RAF Colleagues as a “Blended” workforce. The team are responsible for:
Main Accountabilities:
Completing maintenance, inspections, repair and rectification of RAF Brize Norton vehicles and airfield support equipment.
Completing the removal and refit of assemblies and components - working in accordance with maintenance schedules, workshop manuals, technical publications and parts catalogues.
Ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely fashion and to health and safety, fire, emergency evacuation, quality, risk, and COSHH standards and procedures.
Maintaining a clear, safe, tidy, effective and efficient working environment.
Compliance with Health & Safety Instructions.
Compliance with the Client's Operating Procedures.
Compliance relevant Quality Systems.
You shall ensure that the maintenance, maintenance recording and services delivered are always complete, correct and “right first time” “every time”.
What you need to do the job:
A few years of experience in the Vehicle Maintenance Arena
Ability to effectively and safely complete technical maintenance and rectification tasks.
Functional IT skills to use Electronic Technical Manuals and to update Maintenance Recording systems.
Be an excellent team player with a “can-do safely” approach to work.
Must have high standards of oral and written communication skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Eyesight Colour perception. Must be able to achieve Military “CP2” standard for Airfield Driving.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) Vehicle Maintenance. (Desirable)
“Category C” Vocational Driving licence. (Desirable)
MoD Security Clearance. - Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of our Client are required to be security cleared to SC level. If successful in your application, we would support you with the SC process. As a guideline only, you would normally need to have been a UK resident for the last 5 consecutive years.
